Talavera,
a ceramic art product, dates back to the 16th century.
Its origin is in Talavera de la Reina, Spain and was brought
to the new world by the Spaniards when they conquered Mexico.
Earthenware is hand painted in rustic designs on dishes,
bath accessories, sinks and garden art. Studios and factories are
located in Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, Mexico.
No
two pieces are alike for they are each painted by an artistic in
the traditional clay technique.
Each piece reflects a story rich in history and represents
a confluence of artistic culture from Spanish, Moorish, Italian,
Chinese and Mexican influences. Talavera is fired in a kiln at 1050.°
Bright colors of cobalt blue, red ochre, sunny yellows and
brilliant greens come alive after the last firing to produce one-of-a-kind pieces of art suitable for display.
The individuality of each piece of earthenware is what sets
the product apart from other goods.
